2.13pm 19th September 2017 - Corporate

Sentosa Golf Club, regarded as one of the world’s most respected golf clubs and championship venues, has appointed Performance54 as its sales and marketing agency. The partnership will see Sentosa utilise the expertise of Performance54’s global team of dedicated golf specialists to extend the club’s international recognition and appeal.

Sentosa Golf Club – Hole 5

Opened in 1974, the Club enjoys an enviable location upon the picturesque Sentosa Island, Singapore’s premier island resort getaway. The island itself is home to Sentosa Cove, a world class yachting marina, as well as some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, sandy beaches, and an outstanding and diverse array of built and natural attractions. It is, of course, also home to both of Sentosa Golf Club’s world-class courses: The Serapong and The New Tanjong.

Ranked 58th in the World’s Top 100 Greatest Courses by the world’s leading golf media title, Golf Digest, The Serapong – initially a vision of world-renowned course architect, Ronald Fream, and redesigned in 2007 by golf course architect and the Club’s current General Manager, Andrew Johnston – has hosted some of the region’s highest profile professional events. The New Tanjong Course, meanwhile, was rated 2nd only to its sister course, by the same publication in its Best Course in Singapore listing. The increasingly popular layout has quickly established itself as one of the world’s most exciting course prospects and, next year, will host the 10th edition of the Men’s Asia Pacific Amateur Championship, as well as the Inaugural Women’s Asia Pacific Amateur Championship, all within a year of its opening.

Performance54 will work with the Sentosa Golf Club team on promoting the golf club and the destination as a whole, as well as creating excitement around its impressive roster of globally-significant events in 2018.

The club is set to welcome an unprecedented number of championships, including the returning SMBC Singapore Open, The HSBC Women’s Champions, The Asia Pacific Amateur Championship and The Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific. Performance54 will immediately focus upon capitalising on Sentosa’s time in the spotlight that looks set to continue throughout 2018 in what will be a significant year for everyone involved at the club.

“We are delighted to be working with Performance54, who will provide us with the experience and skills in order to highlight the Sentosa golfing experience to the world,” commented Andrew Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy, Sentosa Golf Club.

“There is no doubt the team will provide us with a full service scope and a creative way of thinking that will benefit our business performance and help us position the Club as one of Asia’s leading attractions in the minds of golfers worldwide. This is a partnership that all parties are proud to be part of and we look forward to ongoing collaboration for the foreseeable future.”

Jed Moore, Managing Director of Performance54, said: “Sentosa is one of the world’s preeminent golf clubs, not only from the experience it offers the player, but also from a design and conditioning perspective, as well as its status as the venue of choice for some of the world’s biggest professional and amateur events.

“We are hugely excited by the opportunity to connect the sales and marketing functions to promote the destination and elevate its perception amongst trade members and consumers. We will also use the profile of upcoming events to create campaign threads that will help bring to life the narrative behind one of the world’s most impressive golfing destinations.”
