The Duke of Roxburghe, owner of luxury Borders hotel The Roxburghe, has announced plans for a major tie-up with Albert Roux and the appointment of Inverlochy Castle Management International Ltd (ICMI) from 1 September 2014.

The Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course will benefit from the expertise of both the hotel management team and Albert Roux and his son Michel, two of the world’s leading chefs.  The move will secure the ambition for the hotel to achieve international renown.  The restaurant, which will be headed by a Roux-trained chef, is the first hotel in the Scottish Borders to secure such an accolade.

Both ICMI and Roux have agreed 15 year contracts with the Roxburghe, putting in place a suitable long term relationship and commitment to take the standards of hospitality and service to the next level.

His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe, said: ‘Our hotel is already a well loved Scottish luxury hotel, and this new alliance with ICMI and Roux will ensure we achieve a world class reputation for hospitality and food. We are delighted to have the new management team in place and believe ICMI and Chez Roux will help position the Roxburghe among the finest small luxury hotels in Scotland. This is an important development not only for the Roxburghe Estates, but also for the Scottish Borders, increasing our role as a destination hotel.

The Roxburghe already enjoys a loyal following both in the hotel and at the golf course. With Roux taking on responsibility not only for the fine dining restaurant in the hotel but the clubhouse brasserie too, all sectors of the business will benefit”.

Dr Sin Chai, Chairman of ICMI commented: “ICMI is privileged to be associated with the Roxburghe Hotel and Estate which represent the finest in Scottish country pursuits and hospitality in one location.  The Scottish Borders is famous for its natural beauty and superb produce which will, or course, continue to be on the menu. We are really looking forward to seeing this lovely hotel flourish and being further enjoyed by visitors from near and far.”

Albert Roux said “This is a dream come true.  The Roxburghe is such a prestigious place and connected with Floors Castle, which is so much a part of the history of my beloved Scotland.  We will definitely put it on the world map!”

ICMI has established itself as the premier management group for the luxury hotel sector in Scotland. It was formed by the senior management team of Inverlochy Castle, widely recognized as one of the leading hotel destinations of the world. Indeed in 2006, it was awarded “Best Hotel in Europe” by the influential American magazine Travel & Leisure.

ICMI is headed by Dr Sin Chai as chairman, and Norbert Lieder as managing director, who leads a team responsible for the supervision of operations, maintenance of standards, marketing and sales. Marketing penetration is world-wide, with sales and bookings managed by a dedicated team and powered by the latest technology.

ICMI manages a portfolio of properties, including Inverlochy Castle in Fort William, Greywalls in East Lothian, Rocpool Reserve in Inverness, Cromlix in Dunblane, and Inver Lodge in Lochinver. These are all luxurious establishments with their individual charms in some of the most beautiful locations in Scotland.
