PGA Catalunya Resort is reaping the rewards of its continued investment after being crowned Spain’s Best Golf Course at the 2018 World Golf Awards and placing fourth in National Club Golfer’s Top 100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe.
The two accolades close a year that has seen the Girona-based resort rated the No.1 Course in Spain by top100golfcourses.com and ranked No.2 in Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Resorts of Continental Europe 2019-2020.
This year has also seen the resort’s five-star Hotel Camiral commended at the European Property Awards for its interior design, and to win the ‘Best Hotel Interior Spain’ category, while its clubhouse upgrade was named Clubhouse Renovation of the Year 2018 by Golf Inc magazine.
The venue’s €53 million investment programme, which kicked off in 2016, has seen significant developments across the resort, both on and off the fairway: the opening of a second hotel, the seeding of a new vineyard, the implementation of ecological conservation programmes, numerous course improvements and residential developments, and, soon to come, an upgraded golf academy and a man-made recreational lake for water sports.
