Mannings Heath Golf Club, situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty near Horsham in West Sussex, has taken delivery of 46 E-Z-GO electric RXV golf cars from local dealer, Harper and Eede, part of the Ernest Doe group.
The original Waterfall course, built in 1919, and the more recent Kingfisher course, which opened in 1996 provide 36 holes of magnificent golf at Mannings Heath, which is owned and managed by Exclusive Hotels.
Steve Slinger is the general manager and is also responsible for The Manor House Golf Club, located at Castle Combe in Wiltshire. Commenting on the new fleet he said, “Demand at the club, especially over the past two years, has driven us to increase the number of golf cars required for the two courses here. These new buggies feature a custom black finish with the club logo emblazoned in gold on the front and look very striking.
“Last year we purchased a similar sized fleet at The Manor House and they have performed superbly well, so when we came to change here at Mannings Heath, we were confident that the RXV was the correct choice. They are much quieter than our previous petrol vehicles and the regenerative braking system is a very good safety feature on our undulating courses.
“We’ve invested a significant sum to create a new buggy park with individual numbered charging bays for each car and a dedicated wash down and preparation area. This is administered and managed by the Pro Shop with one of the course marshals also doubling as our buggy master. It’s his job to ensure that the vehicles are clean, charged and ready for hire.”
Ian Henshaw is the estates manager at Mannings Heath and added, “The members have really taken to these new RXVs and particularly like the automatic parking brake, which means they can get out of the buggy at any time, even on steep slopes, in complete safety. From a management standpoint, the automatic battery filling system and onboard chargers are two excellent features.”
