John Letters, Scotland’s finest clubmaker since 1918, is delighted to announce they are turning back the clock and returning to their roots at the home of golf in St. Andrews with a new Showroom and Workshop.

Only a 254 yard drive from the 18th green of the Old Course, the new Workshop will enable John Letters to combine the latest performance technologies with their finest clubmaking traditions and expertise to hand assemble and custom-build its 2011 range of products.

With the majority of golf equipment manufacturers sourcing their equipment in the Far East, John Letters are bucking the trend of brands by hand-assembling and custom-fitting every product in Scotland in a bid to ensure the most-exacting standards on each John Letters product including the recently re-launched Master Model irons and much-coveted Tour Black wedges.

With no other manufacturer hand assembling golf equipment in St. Andrews, the decision by John Letter’s to undertake this in the home of golf will only add strength and value to what is already a rich company history and tradition dating back 93 years.

Featuring a fully stocked showroom packed with the very latest 2011 Letters equipment, the workshop will also bring together some of Scotland’s finest craftsmen to deliver products of the highest standard.

John Andrew, Managing Director for John Letters, commented: “John Letters is proud to be turning back the clock, bringing custom built hand crafted clubs back to St. Andrews.”

Situated on North Street in the heart of St. Andrews, the new Workshop provides a unique experience offering customers the opportunity to have clubs made and assembled to their exact specifications on the premises with the stamping of the St. Andrew’s official hallmark of the only the finest models.

Douglas McCaig, John Letters’ Scottish agent and son-in-law of the late John Letters, visited the Showroom on North Street, commenting: “The showroom is a great addition to the brand, not just in Scotland, but globally.  Golfers of all nationalities visit St. Andrews and it is great to see John Letters back among the golfing greats.”

McCaig added: “North Street is reported to host some of the oldest buildings in St Andrews and it is the perfect fit for one of the oldest brands in golf. To have a facility where custom clubs can be turned around in 24 hours is a huge advantage for wholesale customers.”

Mike Grubb of Scottish Golf Centre’s was first retailer to visit the showroom and pre-book his 2011 order of John Letters Equipment. Grubb  said: “To be able to come and see all the latest equipment under one roof and get out of the shop for a couple of hours has been great and given me a much better understanding of the Letters product range.”

“Having the ability to have my customers clubs custom fitted in Scotland is a unique service, which I feel will be very popular with our patriotic customers as they love to support Scottish brands. Now there are not many left,” added Grubb.

The new Showroom and Workshop will look to open soon to the public – so visit www.johnletters.com for more details.
