Galloway Glass launch new golf web site

3.00pm 5th February 2001 - Corporate

Dumfriesshire based specialist crystal engraver Galloway Glass has launched a new web site www.crystalforgolfers.com aimed specifically at golf clubs, societies and golf event organisers.

The company was founded in 1989 by designer and glass engraver Frances McCallum and now employs eight staff at its studios outside the village of Beeswing, south west of Dumfries.

Golf related work represents 40% of turnover and the company can boast some 200 golf customers spread across the globe from Singapore to San Francisco. Prior to the launch of the web site golf business has been generated in the UK by word of mouth and overseas by reseller contacts in America, South East Asia and Germany.

Frances McCallum comments, “In the global golf market the Scottish studio base appears to add value and after seeing an increasing amount of golf related enquiries coming through our trade web site and retail web site we decided to develop a site specifically aimed at clubs and organisations buying gifts and prizes for golfers”

The site itself lists some fifty individual crystal items all with click through thumbnails in four sections: mens, ladies, juniors, prizes and trophies. There is both technical and sizing information behind the thumbnails as well as quantity pricing information. To mark the launch of the web site the company is offering to set up and engrave a whisky glass free of charge to any golf club society or event organiser who provides logo details by post or through the new site.
