At a recent meeting The European Tour Board confirmed a decision to carry out a full review of their strategy for future development
The Strategic Planning Programme is being led by a steering committee comprising European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady, Chief Operating Officer Keith Waters and Financial Director Jonathan Orr along with two designated board directors and the recently appointed Chairman, David Williams.
The team are working with OC&C, a specialist international consultancy that helps organisations achieve consistent growth through insightful strategic planning. The review will build on the work achieved by the current board and will fully engage all internal and external audiences to ensure the future direction of the Tour supports every one of its valued stakeholders.
David Williams said: “When I joined The European Tour in December, it was immediately clear to me that the current board had been successful in steering the organisation through a significant period of change and growth. Our sport has a global reach and with the unprecedented pace of change in both the media and commercial opportunities we decided the time is right to initiate a review of our current strategy. I am delighted to be working with George and the team with this.
“The process will involve the existing stakeholders to The European Tour, gathering information and drawing on insights to help us define a strategy for a sustainable European Tour.”
Chief Executive of The European Tour, George O’Grady CBE, said: “Everyone at The European Tour welcomes the opportunity to work with David and OC&C on this important development programme. It is a chance to step back from the day-to-day management of the business and objectively review how far the Tour has come over the last ten years, assess the future opportunities and then develop a strategic and tactical plan to help us maximise our future success.”
