Auchterlonies celebrates 125 years with new online store

Auchterlonies, one of the oldest and largest high street golf retailers in the UK, is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, and to mark the historic occasion the iconic St Andrews-based venue has launched a new online shop.

Founded in 1895, when the Auchterlonie family started making golf clubs in St Andrews, the 10,000-sq ft shop on Golf Place – which is located less than 100 yards from the Old Course’s 18th green – has become a must-visit venue for any golf aficionado who makes the pilgrimage to the Home of Golf.

Speaking about the decision to launch the new online outlet – auchterlonies.com – Bobby Millar, Auchterlonies’ general manager, said: “We are proud to remain a family business and, as we enter 2020, have invested in the next chapter of the Auchterlonie story. We know from those who visit us in store, as well as from our social media engagement, that our customers are spread right the way around the world, from Australia to Argentina, from the United States of America to China – and almost every country in between. Our online investment is designed to support those who love Auchterlonies and St Andrews, but who can’t easily visit us.”

Millar added: “The store is a magnet for those who not only want to understand golf’s history, but who also want to own a piece of the game – be it from the past, the present or the future. Opening an online store builds on 125 years of outstanding customer service to extend our offering with improved convenience and unique content.”

The new online shop will help Auchterlonies reach customers all over the world who are unable to visit the store in St Andrews

Auchterlonies, which has its own ‘Old Course St Andrews’ licensed brand, is an authorised stockist many of golf’s leading brands, including Callaway, FootJoy, Titleist, Adidas, Galvin Green, Under Armour, Glenmuir, Ping, Glenbrae, and many others.
