Bernardus restaurant earns Michelin star

Nikkei cuisine inspired restaurant at 2026 Solheim Cup venue in the Netherlands earns coveted recognition from the Michelin Guide,

Nami by Bernardus has been awarded a Michelin star at the MICHELIN Guide Netherlands 2026 ceremony, held on 5 October at MECC Maastricht.

The award comes less than six months after its transformation from Noble Kitchen, building on the restaurant’s previous Michelin recognition and marking a new chapter as Nami by Bernardus.

Set within the Bernardus estate in Cromvoirt, near the historic city of ’s-Hertogenbosch, Nami brings together Japanese precision and South American vibrancy through its Nikkei cuisine. Led by Executive Head Chef Tom Schoonus, alongside chef Carlo Lago and the wider team, the restaurant combines carefully considered flavours with warm, personal hospitality.

Schoonus commented: “This Michelin star makes us incredibly proud. The award is the result of the dedication, passion and attention to detail of the entire team, both in the kitchen and in the restaurant. Every day, we work to offer our guests a special and personal experience at an accessible price. The fact that Michelin has now officially awarded the renewed Nami a star means a great deal to us.”

Taking its name from the Japanese word for “wave”, Nami reflects a sense of movement and progression. Its transformation introduced a clearer Nikkei signature alongside an interior redesigned by Pieter Laureys, creating a more intimate setting that complements Bernardus’ refined yet relaxed approach to hospitality.

Jan Fassaert, Manager of Nami, added: “This star is a wonderful recognition for the Nami team. Our employees set the bar high every day. The combination of quality, flavour and personal hospitality reflects exactly what Nami and Bernardus stand for.”

For Bernardus, the recognition reinforces gastronomy’s place at the heart of the wider guest experience. Alongside its Kyle Phillips-designed championship golf course, extensive practice facilities, wellness offering and intimate on-site Lodge, Nami gives visitors another reason to discover the destination beyond the fairways.

To celebrate the award, every visit to Nami throughout October will begin with a complimentary bite from the kitchen and a glass of Bernardus Sparkling Rosé 0.0. The alcohol-free aperitif offers guests an opportunity to share in the team’s achievement.

Sabine Riezebos, General Manager of Bernardus, commented: “We are incredibly proud of the Nami team and this recognition of their hard work. Dining is an essential part of the Bernardus Experience, and it is wonderful to see Nami develop its own distinctive identity. Whether guests join us for a meal, a day of golf or an overnight stay, we want them to leave with memories that bring them back.”
