The BGIA (British Golf Industry Association) have announced that they have become associate members of the All-Party Parliamentary Golf Group.
The Group, comprising Members of all major political parties and from both Houses of Parliament, has the singular remit to ‘support the sport of golf’. The group welcomes individual, club and other organisations as non-Parliamentary associate members.
The BGIA are the lead trade body representing UK manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors of golf products and services. Their National Golf Month (NGM) initiative underpins one of their main aims which is to support and champion growth and participation in the sport of golf.
NGM accomplishes this by introducing new golfers to the game and encouraging lapsed golfers to return by being open to all, but placing the focus on ladies and families. The APPGG added their support to this event by enabling the launch of NGM to be held at the House of Commons. It was attended by Sports Minister, Rt Hon David Evennett MP and a host of other MP’s including Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn MP.
Nigel Freemantle, BGIA Chair, commented “We are delighted to become associate members of the All-Parliamentary Golf Group to strengthen the links that we have formed through our mutual support of NGM. We now look forward to working closely with the group as they seek to support golf at all levels. The BGIA works hard to improve participation in the sport, but challenges remain, and I am confident that if we work together we will be able to help tackle these and ensure a bright future for golf.”
