The new Diamond Apartment Hotel at Diamond Country Club will receive its first VIP visitors from 11–14 June when the elite of The European Tour arrive to compete in the Lyoness Open Powered by Greenfinity.
Host venue of the tournament since 2010, Diamond Country Club –a European Tour Destination – has opened the doors to its new hotel, which offers 33 apartment-style rooms and two exclusive master suites.
And with the re-design of eight clubhouse rooms, the venue now offers a complete resort where both national and international golfers can experience one of Austria’s finest golfing challenges on the Diamond Course, and the cultural and culinary delights on offer in the beautiful Lower Austrian countryside.
In 2014, Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg denied home favourite and 2012 champion Bernd Wiesberger a second victory in three years when he holed a 40ft birdie putt on the first play-off hole to claim the title.
Both Lundberg and Wiesberger will be back this year to compete for an increased prize fund of €1.5 million, up 50 per cent on last year’s purse.
Ryder Cup player Stephen Gallacher, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, winner of the Shenzen International, and a strong French contingent which includes Alexander Levy, Grégory Bourdy, Raphaël Jacquelin and Grégory Havret have also confirmed their places in the field.
Commenting on the announcement that the event would feature in The Race to Dubai for a further five years, Keith Waters, The European Tour’s Chief Operating Officer and Director of International Policy, said: “Since returning to our International Schedule in 2006, the Lyoness Open has developed into an excellent tournament, and it has been an important and valued fixture on our Race to Dubai.

Diamond Country Club now boasts a host of facilities including the new hotel, clubhouse suites, the Diamond Boathouse, the clubhouse with Austria’s 2014 Golf Restaurant of the Year and three courses of varying lengths. The venue has also teamed up with Golf Resort Haugschlag, located 90 minutes away, to offer golfers an additional two-centre playing opportunity.
