Bovey Castle’s 18-hole championship golf course has been named in a top five list published by the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World.
The Devon hotel’s challenging and beautiful course was designed in 1926 by J F Abercromby, recognised as one of the finest British golf course designers of the last century.
Opened in 1930, the course quickly gained national acclaim for its reputation as one of the most enjoyable places to play golf – and is now officially in the top five best locations in the South West region.
Bovey Castle’s picturesque course, designed to rival its sister courses Gleneagles and Turnberry, features a fully-equipped club house, driving range, golf academy and bistro for pre and post match meals and snacks.
The course meanders through the AA award-winning hotel estate, surrounded by idyllic landscape and challenges to meet any handicap.
A major investment by the new owners of the award-winning Bovey Castle is due to commence at the Devon hotel this month, with the course set to benefit from the wider renovation project.
Bovey Caste, recently added to the Eden Hotel Collection, was earmarked for an immediate £2m renovation programme to include an exciting re-launch of the hotel’s food and beverage offerings, as well as improvements to the guest rooms and other public areas.
Mark Chambers, Managing Director of Eden Hotel Collection, commented, “We aim to take Bovey Castle back to its former glory in establishing it as the principle five star resort in the South West.”
