STRI Host Research Event for Sportsturf Management

12.42am 1st August 2012 - Exhibitions & Conferences

STRI is inviting greenkeepers, course managers, fine turf managers, groundstaff and sports professionals to attend a research event which will provide a unique insight into the future of sportsturf management.

Following the inaugural event launched in 2011, STRI Research 2012 will once again give sportsturf managers an opportunity to receive first-hand detailed information on the latest developments being made in sports turf products, techniques and technology.

The one day event will run on both Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th September at STRI’s research facilities in Bingley with demonstrations conducted at seven separate turf management areas. Delegates will be based in small groups to allow interaction and question time with advisory staff.

Key subject areas which will be covered at this year’s event include: disease management & plant health, nutritional management, grass species & cultivars, application tools and methodology as well as technology and machinery.

The event will be supported by a number of organisations working with STRI at the forefront of R&D projects to help improve the quality and management of sports surfaces. It will be attended by Bayer, Everris (formerly Scotts), R&K Kensett, Rigby Taylor, Ransomes Jacobsen, Sheriff Amenity, Plant Impact and Syngenta.

Ruth Mann, who manages the research trials for STRI, commented: “Following on from the hugely successful event last year, we’re delighted to once again host a research event which will provide sportsturf managers with invaluable insight and knowledge with industry experts to improve and sustain the quality of their turf.

“We are working with a number of companies who share our passion to stay at the cutting edge of sportsturf management. This year’s event will showcase best practice and demonstrate the many innovative products, machinery and techniques that are being trialled by the STRI Research team.”

Carolyn Beadsmoore, head of sales and marketing at STRI adds: “By hosting the event on two separate days we’re hoping to meet the huge demand for places anticipated after the overwhelming demand and feedback from last year. I’d urge sportsturf professionals to book their place at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment.”

The deadline for booking for the STRI research 2012 event is 31st August 2012. Invitations have been sent out to all sports clubs and facilities across the UK and Ireland. Discounted accommodation of 50 per cent for one night at the Ramada Hotel in Bingley is available.
