Major international and local business and local government have pledged their financial and resources support for the fourth annual South African Golf Summit taking place at Fancourt in George from 29th March to 1st April 2009.
Fancourt marketing director Kwakye Donkor said several major sponsorships have been secured and others are expected to support the ever-increasing stature of the summit. “The Golf Summit has become a respected forum with recognised local and international association of great value. It not only benefits sponsors to have a presence at the South African golf industry’s most significant business meeting, but also highlights the importance of the Golf Summit as economic role player.”
Fancourt CEO Ingrid Diesel said sponsorships of high calibre organisations emphasised the golf industry’s elaborate associations with local and international business. “We are honoured and grateful to all the sponsors who give freely towards the greater good of golf and its related industries. All funding ultimately contributes to the growth of an industry that provides thousands of jobs and better the lives of thousands more.”
Donkor highlighted the generous financial support of The Eden District Municipality who once again is a major sponsor. “Local government support signals recognition that golf and its associated industries are significant contributors to the local economy. The Golf Summit strengthens the advancement of the industry and ultimately benefits local economic development. We believe that the regional, national and international exposure for Eden is invaluable and will continue to establish it as a desirable golf destination with beautiful scenery, strong extended tourism amenities and good infrastructure – these aspects also highlight the region’s suitability as base camp for teams in the 2010 World Cup, which the region is pursuing enthusiastically.”
Confirmed sponsors include Airlink, All Golf Group, Arnold Palmer Design, Brandhouse, Compleat Golfer, David Frost Signature Series, Goose Wines, Matkovich & Hayes, Rain Bird International, Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, Smith Turf, South African Express, Tee to Green, and Tours for South Africa.
This year’s Golf Summit theme includes the current global economic turmoil and its affects on the local and international golf industry.
The SA Golf Summit, which was initiated by Fancourt in 2006 and is supported by the Professional Golfers Association of South Africa (PGA of SA), has become an internationally recognised forum for government, property developers, tour operators and investors to discuss the development and role of golf resorts, courses and estates.
