Greg Mills, one of Australia’s leading golf administrators of the last 20 years, has been appointed Secretary of the Ladies’ Golf Union and commenced the full-time post at St Andrews yesterday.
“It is an exciting appointment for the LGU as Greg brings with him a wealth of experience in golf administration,” said Elizabeth Earnshaw, Chairman of the LGU. “Not only will he ensure that our championships continue to represent the highest level of ladies golf, both amateur and professional, but he brings with him a commercial acumen that surely will benefit the Ladies’ Golf Union in years to come.”
In his 20 years of golf administration Greg Mills, now 53, followed a spell in golf club management by being appointed the Inaugural Executive Director of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation. He later spent two years as General Manager of the PGA Tour of Australasia and left to go into partnership with Jack Newton. As a founding director of the Jack Newton Group, he was involved in software development and in raising money for the development of junior golf.
Greg Mills is married to Bronwyn who has recently taken up a new position in the UK. They have two children, both of whom are professional golfers; Joanne is a member in the Ladies European Tour while Martin runs the Gary Player Golf Academy in Singapore.
