Algarve prepares to host PGAs of Europe Annual Congress

The Algarve Promotion Bureau is pleased to announce that the PGAs of Europe Annual Congress 2011 will be held at the Hotel Tivoli Marina in the Algarve from Saturday 26th to Tuesday 29th November 2011. The programme of the event will include presentations and a debate covering issues on the development of the sport worldwide.

Supported once again by Associaçäo Turismo do Algarve, Glenmuir, and the Ryder Cup European Development Trust, the Congress brings together leading executives of the PGAs of Europe and member PGAs, the European Tour and Challenge Tour, the European Golf Association (EGA) and member Federation, The R&A, the Ryder Cup, the International Golf Federation (IGF) and the PGA of America.

The congress will be a repeat of the highly successful Professional Golf Forum discussing such topics as global Golf Development, Player Development, the lifelong Education of PGA professionals, Golf in the Olympics and the Ryder Cup.

As always, the 72-hole PGAs of Europe International Team Championship (ITC) will be staged at Vale de Lobo and the three-day event, with its attendant workshops and networking opportunities, will end with an Annual Awards evening and Gala Dinner.

This year the popular gala evening has a revised programme of presentations in which the John Jacobs Coach of the Year award, Golf Development award and Lifetime Achievement Award have been added to the 5-Star Professional and the Christer Lindberg Bowl. Leading figures from both the administration of golf and tournament play will feature in this part of the agenda.

The annual President’s Challenge golf day for delegates and speakers will also take place at the Oceanico Victoria course which recently hosted thePortugalMasters in which Tom Lewis scored his maiden Tour victory.
