With the floods in Bangkok attracting international media attention, the Conference Organiser reassures delegates that everything is normal in the beach resort city of Pattaya.
“While the city of Bangkok is under flood alert, our events in the city of Pattaya are unaffected,” said Mike Sebastian, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of the Summit. “Pattaya is not in the affected flood zone. Neither is Survanabhumi International Airport which is open to traffic and is safe. (The airport that is shut is the Don Muang domestic airport in Bankok).
“The highway leading to Pattaya from the airport is also unaffected and it’s all systems go as golf legends like Tony Jacklin, Peter McEvoy and American tennis superstar Jimmy Connors headline the 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit that will open on October 31.”
Pattaya will be host to a full week of activities that will feature the following conferences and exhibitions:
- 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit
- 2011 Golf Course Superintendents of Asia Summit
- PGA Conference of Asia
- The Inaugural ASEAN Golf Tourism Forum
- 2011 Southeast Asia & India Golf Merchandise Exhibition
“Our conferences have already signed on some 500 delegates and we expect a few more last minute registrations,” Sebastian said.
The business activities will commence on October 31 with the official opening of the 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit and end on November 6 with the staging of theSoutheast Asiaand India Golf Merchandise Exhibition.
“I just want to tell the world that our events are on schedule and that Pattaya is absolutely safe and dry. The floods are localized to the Bangkok region and it is going to be business as usual for us in this pulsating beach resort city,” Sebastian concluded.
