Two recent signings by two top clubs for the Inforemer Management System is news enough, but Parco di Roma is both the first course in Italy to install the Inforemer GPS system, and the first course to be designed in Europe by the famous golf course architect, Pete Dye. The other club, Son Muntaner, is one of Mallorca’s premier golf destinations and with many of Europe’s top courses now using the Informer system, the team at GPSI Europe are confident of attracting many more.
Parco di Roma
Located a few kilometres to the north west of Rome, Parco di Roma is an 18 hole par 72 championship length course measuring 6,500 metres. On the club’s website, advice for playing the course is for ‘maximum precision’, so provided they’re suitably armed with the Inforemer’s uniquely accurate GPS, members and visitors should at least be able to pick the right club based on the correct yardage from wherever they happen to find themselves…
The club’s owners are installing the full management system version of the Inforemer, with 2-way communications capability between club and golfers. The system will be based on 65 buggy-mounted units with 10.4” screens, and a further 50 handheld units.
Son Muntaner
Son Muntaner is part of the Arabella Sheraton Golf Group. Located in Palma, Mallorca, the upscale club is amongst the first golf clubs in this highly popular tourist destination to have installed a GPS system. Provided they get their hands on one of the 35 buggy-mounted Inforemer GPS units, golfers will have no excuses for poor club selection at this superb course.
Son Muntaner opened for business in 2000 and has been getting rave reviews for its condition, facilities and service from golfers all over Europe who have played the course.
James Arnold, golf director, is responsible for maintaining those high standards, and is clearly impressed with his club’s new Inforemer system: “The Informer is the management tool the golf resort industry has been waiting for. GPS is a technology that has promised much, but the Informer is the first system that delivers on those promises. In fact, it’s better than that; the new graphics are quite superb and golfers are going to love each hole’s views and details as they consider the challenges it has for them. The screen’s richness and clarity of detail will also be highly attractive to our sponsors,” he said.
“The Inforemer looks like a technology solution that really is going to increase our revenues. And with the expert support of the team at GPSI Europe, it’ll help our 54-hole resort remain one of the most attractive to visit in Europe.”
