GPS Industries, Inc has announced its first European sale of its Inforemer™ golf business solution to the five-star Abama Hotel Resort which opens in the Canary Islands this Spring.
Inforemer will provide Abama’s operators with GPSI’s full suite of advanced back-end facilities management solutions, as well as other refinements that will enhance guests‘ golf play experience and generate new revenue streams for the course.
Abama’s fleet of 80 golf carts will be fitted with Inforemer’s 10‘4″ multimedia display and interactive communication units.
Inforemer is designed to enhance interaction between management and golfers, improve customer service and satisfaction, as well as provide a fully integrated wireless Wi-Fi based solution for golf course facilities management.
Inforemer also provides new revenue streams through advertising sales on the mobile display units and by providing an avenue for sales of refreshments and other course products. As the only GPS system to offer golf courses the choice of both handheld and cart-mount GPS view screen units, Inforemer is ideally suited to the European market where golfers both walk the course and ride carts.
“The Wi-Fi network we install creates a hotspot the size of a golf resort, not only improving the performance of Inforemer on the golf course with streaming media and real-time tournament play, but connecting the entire facility,” said Brad Allen, vice president of European operations for GPSI. “Guests can also access the Internet wirelessly from their personal laptop or PDA before and after their round of golf.”
The sale to Abama comes in the wake of several key phases of GPSI’s entry into the European market, a key target of the company’s marketing and sales efforts. The company recently announced the opening of its European office, the signing of a new UK-based distributor and the purchase of the exclusive Differential GPS (DGPS) patents for Great Britain, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Australia and Japan. With the recent announcement of the purchase of the GPS golf patents in North America, GPSI now owns the patents for all major markets in the worldwide golf marketplace.
