St Andrews Links Trust, the charitable organisation responsible for the management and preservation of the seven Links courses at St Andrews, including the world-famous Old Course, has published a commemorative brochure to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024.
Founded in 1974, St Andrews Links Trust has grown over the past five decades into a globally recognised organisation, responsible for not only maintaining and protecting one of the world’s most historic sporting destinations but also managing additional facilities including three clubhouses, a golf academy and five retail stores.
St Andrews Links welcomes golfers and visitors from around the world, with more than 280,000 rounds of golf played over the seven courses each year.
Published on St Andrews Day (November 30), the brochure offers a look into the Trust’s history, showcasing key milestones, rarely seen photographs and innovations that have shaped the Links into what it is today.
Neil Coulson, CEO of St Andrews Links Trust, said: “2024 was a special year for St Andrews Links Trust, with the organisation celebrating 50 years of being custodians for the most important parcel of land in all of golf.
“What started with a handful of staff has grown into an operation which employs up to 400 during high season, managing a property which significantly contributes to the prosperity of the town of St Andrews as well as the regional and national tourism economy.
“During this time the Links Trust has significantly developed the experience at St Andrews Links with the addition of new golf courses and facilities for local residents and visitors and the growth of the global renown of the Home of Golf.
“This commemorative brochure has afforded us the opportunity to look back on previous successes and challenges and everyone associated with the Links Trust can be proud of its achievements over the past 50 years.”
This year has proved to be another historic 12 months at the Home of Golf. From implementing sustainability initiatives to hosting major championship golf, and welcoming golfers from over 65 different countries.
The complimentary brochure will be available from December 2 at select locations in St Andrews, including St Andrews Links’ Clubhouses, retail stores and the golf academy. For those not able to collect a copy in person, a digital version is available online here.
