Four-time Ryder Cup venue The Belfry is hosting an Open Day extravaganza on Wednesday 21 July to showcase the latest equipment from the world’s top manufactures and provide golfers of all abilities with free tuition tips and top competition prizes.
Staged in the resort’s PGA National Golf Academy from 10am until 10pm, the Open Day will feature equipment from nine of the world’s leading brands in one venue, plus a host of fun activities and special offers. It is being held on the same day as Monty’s Challenge in which Colin Montgomorie will play nine holes on The Brabazon course in a bid to play four Ryder Cup venues in one day to raise money for the charity he set up in his mother’s memory.
Exceptional deals on big name golf brands will be available throughout the day in The Shop at The Belfry, Europe’s largest on-course golf and lifestyle store, while clubs from Titleist, Callaway, Wilson Staff, Cobra, Ping, TaylorMade, Cleveland, Nike and Mizuno can all be tested on the 34-bay driving range. All nine brands supply The Belfry with their very best equipment, not just the standard fitting carts, meaning that 12,000 different club combinations can be created, including more than 50 sets of irons. Top-quality Nike range balls and Srixon short game area balls allow golfers to get a true feel for the clubs they are hitting.
A series of custom fit taster sessions will also take place in the National Custom Fit Centre, which boasts the largest demo stock in Europe and state-of-the-art launch monitors from the top equipment companies in five specialist fitting suites. The highly experienced custom fit staff are trained regularly by the brands to ensure all visitors receive the perfect clubs for their game.
The Belfry’s team of more than 20 pros will be on hand to provide free tuition clinics, including dedicated junior and short game schools, plus there will be the chance to win fantastic prizes in ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Beat The Pro’ competitions. All visitors will each receive free Academy membership worth £50, while the famous Brabazon course is being specially set up to Tour-quality conditions for a special contest to raise money for the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation.
“The Open Day is a great opportunity for anybody who plays golf to try out the latest clubs and improve their games at Europe’s biggest and best Golf Academy,” said Gary Silcock, The Belfry’s Director of Golf. “More importantly, it will also show how much fun golf can be, no matter whether you are a complete beginner or a scratch golfer.”
