La Hacienda Links Golf Resort has announced a new investment programme to further enhance the golf experience at the 36-hole Spanish resort.
Following a busy last 12 months, which included the relaunch of its renowned Links course after a major renovation, the opening of a new clubhouse and the announcement of a new Fairmont hotel to open in 2024, the resort is set to the raise the bar even further by carrying out a fresh series of upgrades to its golf and leisure amenities.
At the heart of the plans is the La Hacienda’s other 18-hole golf course, the Heathland course – winner of the ‘Players’ Choice Award’ and the ‘Best Hospitality in Spain’ honours at the 2022 Golfhaftet Awards – which is set to benefit from a period of investment this winter and spring.
As well as carrying out redesign work to enhance the layout, including the repositioning of the 18th tee, other upgrades on the course will include levelling the 1st and 11th fairways to improve the playability of the course; cleaning and refurbishing the lakes and bridges on the eighth and ninth holes; and repairing and resurfacing all the buggy paths.
In addition, La Hacienda will unveil a new state-of-the-art website and a variety of updated stay-and-play packages in the coming months, while players can look forward to an improved golf experience on the Links course later this year with the opening of a new halfway house.
Javier Illán, president of Millenium Hospitality, owners of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, said: “With the relaunch of our magnificent Links course and the opening of so many other new facilities, 2022 was a landmark year for the resort.
“These are exciting times for La Hacienda and we’re looking forward to introducing a series of further improvements to the experience we offer to our guests in the coming months as we continue to build towards the opening of our Fairmont hotel in 2024.”
Located in the Cadiz municipality of San Roque close to Sotogrande, La Hacienda Links Golf Resort enjoyed a memorable 2022 which saw the resort establish itself as one of the rising stars of European golf – with the transformation of the Links course at the forefront of its multi-million-euro redevelopment plans.
Running along the beachfront with spectacular views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa, the reconfiguration and redesign of the layout by American architect Kurtis Bowman was one of the year’s most exciting golf course projects in Europe.
Away from the fairways, La Hacienda’s series of upgrades included a new contemporary clubhouse; a new driving range and an upgraded practice area; and a new beach bar and restaurant ‘Sal Verde’. In addition, the resort highlighted its ambition to become one of the most exclusive and luxurious golf developments in Spain by signing a deal with Fairmont Hotel & Residences.
The new 323-room hotel and villas is set for a full launch next year and, when completed, will also feature five restaurants and bars, including a pool bar and a beach restaurant, as well as swimming pools, spa, fitness centre, ballroom and a selection of flexible meeting rooms.
