The Governing Board of the Official World Golf Ranking has announced two important changes to the way that it operates the ranking system, including a new points distribution curve for fields of 80 or less and and the addition of bonus points for players who win multiple events within a 52-week period.

LIV Golf's application to gain world ranking points for its players via an alliance with theĀ Mena TourĀ  has been put 'under review' by the body that organises the rankings, leaving the Saudi-backed series with no immediate prospect of being granted official status.

Fifty members of LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed tour which launched in June, have jointly issued a signed statement requesting that LIV Golf tournaments earn players points towards the Official World Golf Ranking.
