Royal Portrush Golf Club, host of next year’s Open Championship, has completed a £165,000 project to strengthen the coastal erosion defences protecting part of the famous Dunluce links.

Golspie Golf Club in Scotland has faced major storm damage for the third time in recent memory – but already the community has rallied together to return it to its former glory.

The 8th hole of the 103-year-old Jubilee Course is now only yards away from the high tide level, following severe erosion of the dunes during storms last winter. The defences to be put in place are a combination of ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ options. The dunes between the estuary and the golf courses are environmentally sensitive and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Putting effective defences in place is a matter of urgency
