Wipe Away the Winter Blues at Grado Golf Club

2.29am 3rd February 2011 - Travel

Golfers who fancy testing their skills on island greens and beautiful lakes this winter don’t need to make the long haul trip to Florida but can take a short hop to an undiscovered gem nestling in the north east of Italy.

A special Winter Golf Pass is being offered by Grado Golf Club in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, about two hours from the magnificent city of Venice, for €399, entitling golfers to unlimited golf on weekdays and three rounds at the weekend until April 1, 2011.

Best known for its stunning signature hole, the par three 1st hole with an island green reminiscent of the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Grado is a dramatic championship layout perched between the Laguna di Grado and the Mediterranean which offers stunning views of the Tenuta Primero resort and marina.

The 6650 yard, par 72 championship layout opened in 1996 and was designed by Venice born architect Marco Croze. With a mild climate all year round and long hours of sunshine, Grado is the ideal place for a long weekend golfing getaway from the UK.

Ivan Marzola, the owner of Grado Golf Club and the Tenuta Primero Resort said, “Golf in Italy has never enjoyed a higher profile. The success of the Molinari brothers and the impact Matteo Mannassero has made on European golf have given the game here a huge lift. We have the ideal climate and location for golf and Grado really is a special place to come and play. Whether it is a group of friends on a regular golf break or a family looking for a relaxing few days close to the world famous city of Venice we can cater for everyone.”

Grado is a 27 hole golf complex with a nine hole executive course ideal for less experienced players and children. A series of top class coaching programmes are on offer at the golf academy, which features excellent driving bays and putting and chipping greens. The club restaurant “Al Casone” is built in the style of a traditional local fishing house by the Laguna di Grado and offers gourmet fresh fish dishes with a modern twist.

The Tenuta Primero resort boasts a private marina which can accommodate yachts of up to 25m in length, a private beach and luxurious facilities such as a heated swimming pool, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a selection of restaurants and bars.
