Volcanic Ash Has Golfbreaks.com Staff At The Double

10.08am 29th April 2010 - Travel

Staff at Golfbreaks.com, Europe’s largest golf travel company, swung into action during the recent travel chaos, caused by the volcanic ash cloud, to ensure customers continued to enjoy their golf holidays.

The Golfbreaks.com offices in Windsor, Berks, opened over the affected weekend with double the staff working extra shifts to deal with golfers affected by the cloud emanating from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland.

The flight restrictions impacted on more than 320 golf breaks but everyone was rebooked, rearranged or amended thanks to the Golfbreaks.com customer service team and the support it received from hotels and resorts across Europe that have been working with Golfbreaks.com for many years.

Andrew Stanley, chief executive of Golfbreaks.com, said: “Our staff have been absolutely fantastic over this difficult period, every one has pulled together to help our customers and ensure they are well looked after.

“For those customers who have been stranded abroad we have worked together with the venues they were visiting to amend bookings or source alternative accommodation while we waited for airspace to reopen around Europe. It was an outstanding team effort.”

Rodney Black, from County Armagh, was due to fly to Spain to stay at the InterContinental Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa, but had his plans disrupted due to flight cancellations. His trip has now been rearranged and he is once again looking forward to teeing the ball up in the sunshine.

He contacted Golfbreaks.com to say: “Thank you very much for the efficient way you have dealt with this rebooking. I must say I am very pleased with the customer service supplied by Golfbreaks.com – I am sure you have been very busy.”

Peter Daughtrey, whose plans were also disrupted, but has successfully been rebooked on another golf break, also contacted Golfbreaks.com to thank the company. He said: “Absolutely first class customer service. Eight other members from our golf club were asking who to use and they will all be using Golfbreaks.com in the future.”

As Europe’s largest golf travel company – sending 134,000 customers on holidays last year alone – Golfbreaks.com offers over 950 stunning venues and is widely recognised as the expert when it comes to golf breaks, golf holidays and golf tours across the UK, Europe and Worldwide.
