Legend Golf & Safari Resort has been nominated for three prestigious industry gongs in the upcoming World Travel Awards. Hailed as the “Oscars of the travel industry”, the World Travel Awards is the most influential  awards programme for the global travel sector.

Legend Golf & Safari Resort at the Big 5 Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the Waterberg area of Limpopo scooped the title of Africa’s Leading Tourism Development Project title in 2009. But this year it is enjoying triple the amount of success with nominations in the following categories of the 17th Annual World Travel Awards:

Legend Golf & Safari Resort, located on the 22,000 hectare, malaria-free Entabeni game reserve, is also home to the unique Signature Course, designed by 18 of the world’s leading golfers and a luxury estate, as well as the now world-famous ‘Extreme 19th.’

Peet Cilliers, CEO of Legend Lodges, Hotels & Resorts, said: “We were thrilled, last year, to be named Africa’s Leading Tourism Development Project in the World Travel Awards and it was a great pleasure for me to also accept a CNBC Arabia Property Award.

“But to be nominated for three prestigious World Travel Awards in 2010 is more than we could wish for. This is a great honour and a recognition of all the hard work of the thousands of people involved in what we are doing at Legend Golf & Safari Resort.”

The World Travel Awards was established to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry. With thousands of votes cast by professionals from 183,000 travel agencies in more than 160 countries across the planet, winning a World Travel Award has become one of the highest accolades a travel product can receive.

As a World Travel Award Nominee, Legend Golf & Safari Resort will now be put forward into the final round of voting. The results will then be announced at the glittering Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony on 7th July in Johannesburg.
