For those looking for the perfect year-round golfing destination, Somabay provides some of Egypt’s best golfing facilities against the backdrop of the beautiful Red Sea. With year-round sunshine and catering to a range of abilities, Somabay is an ideal choice for golfers looking to practice their swing and hone in on their hole-in-one skills.

Expertly designed by golfing legend Gary Player, Somabay’s 18-hole championship course leads players on a journey through the Red Desert, where they can take in the dramatic contrast between the rugged coastline and the turquoise waters beyond.

For newcomers to the sport or those looking to improve their skills, guests can make the most of the Golf Academy, where a complimentary golf lesson is provided by the fully qualified team of professionals. With ample facilities to perfect technical skills, guests can also practice their swing at the floodlit, double-ended driving range, or head for a quick round at the 5,000 sqm Short Game Areana.

Guaranteed fun for all ages, families can delight in Somabay’s footgolf offering, an innovative combination that puts a new twist on two sporting favourites. With no prior skills or training required, the 9-hole footgolf course is an entertaining way to bring healthy competition to the family holiday.

This October the destination will also open a brand new par 3, 9-hole course, which is designed to provide the best playing experience day or night. With state-of-the-art fully floodlit facilities, the course will offer both advanced and novice golfers an opportunity to test every scoring shot.

Sustainability has been central throughout the development of Somabay Golf, which was consciously built to blend into the natural surroundings of the Red Sea. Over the past five years, Somabay has increasingly incorporated indigenous, water-saving plants within the facilities, and the Gary Player golf course was recently relayed using Paspalum Platinum – which is tolerant to both salt and high temperatures – allowing for the reduction of water usage on the golf course. A 5mw solar plant has also been implemented to reduce Somabay’s carbon footprint, further building on the destination’s sustainability credentials.

This October, golfers can put their skills to the test in a competitive environment at the Somabay Golf Open. From October 5-7, the annual event will take place on the Gary Player Championship course, with accommodation provided by The Cascades Golf Resort, Spa & Thalasso and packages starting from £577pp.
