PGA Catalunya Sets Up Inaugural Junior Residential Golf Camp

12.50pm 15th June 2022 - Travel

Young golf enthusiasts will be able to play and stay well this summer at PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness thanks to a new residential golf programme designed to develop all aspects of a youngster’s game while providing important social time with peers.

Aimed at 12 to 15-year-olds with a maximum handicap of 15, the new five-day Junior Elite Residential Golf Camps will focus on refining age-appropriate skills that maximise young players’ full athletic potential, in an environment that encourages them to enjoy themselves and what they are doing.

“Golf isn’t just about the perfect swing,” said Enric Lopez, Head Professional at PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness. “To ensure the sport’s appeal and future, it’s vital we give children from all walks of life the best opportunity to learn and develop their game, while also having fun.

“We believe the success of our Junior Academy and our weekly Summer Golf Camps that have been running for almost a decade now, are testament to this philosophy,” he added. “For some, these summer camps are their first-ever taste of golf under expert tuition, so it is important to make sure they are having fun while learning new skills.”

PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness continues to be a strong supporter of junior golf.

PGA Catalunya’s junior camps will run from July 4 to August 12 and will incorporate a range of activities, including putting techniques, approach shots and fine-tuning driving capabilities, while allowing young players to socialise and have fun among their peers.

All the programmes will benefit from the resort’s five-star practice facilities, including the recently upgraded driving range and Golf Hub that features the most advanced swing analysis technology and the same ball-tracking system used on the DP World Tour, as well as Europe’s largest short game area, as 2,000m² putting and chipping green, comprising different grass types and five bunkers each containing different sand types from around the world – Augusta, St Andrews, Hawaii volcanic, PGA Catalunya Stadium Course sand bunker and Pebble Beach.
