Normandy voted amongst the top ten golf destinations

12.00pm 13th October 2000 - Travel

The Normandy region of France has been voted one of the top ten established golf destinations by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

The 95 tour operators in 21 different countries were asked to give a “satisfaction rating” for each of the destinations they featured ranging from the quality of the golf courses to the promotional support received from the tourist boards.

Normandy was the only French destination to score among the top ten, half of which were in the United States. The overall winner will be announced in December during the International Golf Travel Market in Jacksonville, Florida.

There are 37 golf courses in Normandy, many within minutes of the ferry ports at Cherbourg, Caen, Le Havre and Dieppe. The recently completed motorway network puts Normandy just one hour’s drive from the Channel Tunnel and the region is becoming more and more popular with British golfers taking short break golfing holidays.
