New tour operator appointed for golf in Denmark

12.01am 23rd August 2000 - Travel

The Danish Tourist Board has appointed The Golf Travel Club to be the exclusive tour operator to Denmark for golf. In partnership with Maersk Air, the Danish Airline, The Golf Travel Club has put together packages to suit all golfers. With unlimited golf starting at just £19 per day on courses that exceed many of the ‘greats’ in Europe, combined with the genuine hospitality of the Danes, this package is expected to become extremely popular. Denmark has virtually no queues on the tees, and is keen to attract UK golfers who want a short break that includes good golf, good accommodation and good food and hospitality. A two night break in Thomas Bjorn’s home town of Silkeborg in the four star Hotel Louisiana costs £279 per person based on two sharing and includes scheduled flights from London Gatwick, car hire and accommodation on a B/B basis. Golf is extra and costs from £19 per day. Thomas Bjorn, European Tour Professional, comments on the Danish golfing experience: “Golf in Denmark remains one of my country’s hidden gems, and I feel sure that with the golfing packages that follow, British golfers will experience the abundance of quality courses that are to be found in Denmark. I am lucky to travel the world with the game, but I still return to play at home regularly and hope to meet you one day at the first tee of my home course or one of the many others I play.” Austen Gravestock, managing director of The Golf Travel Club, comments, “With Maersk Air’s regular schedule of flights coupled with the value for money golf, we are expecting Denmark to be a very attractive alternative to the more renowned golfing destinations.”
