Italy Golf & More has rubber-stamped the country’s presence at IGTM 2016 by partnering with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) on a range of promotional activities at this year’s show, which will take place in Mallorca from November 14-17.

In addition to being promoted in regular communications in the run-up to the show, Italy Golf & More will receive branding in all IAGTO activities throughout the week in Mallorca including the IGTM golf tournament, the official show catalogue and end-of-event awards party – as well as benefitting from post-show promotion.

Italy Golf & More, the first pan-Italian international promotional project for golf, has received widespread acclaim since being launched this spring, and its presence alongside more than 20 Italian exhibitors at this year’s IGTM underlines the importance of Italy as an emerging force in the golf tourism sector.

Bruno Bertero, project co-ordinator for Italy Golf & More, said: “IGTM is the most important golf tourism event in the world and partnering with IAGTO for the event gives us a fantastic opportunity to raise our global profile.

“The initial response we have received shows that people have a tremendous appetite to play golf in Italy, and this is a great chance to demonstrate the many delights that Italy has to offer to a worldwide audience.”

Giles Greenwood, director at IAGTO, said: “IAGTO is pleased that Italy Golf & More have enhanced their IGTM experience by becoming an IAGTO co-partner this year.

“IGTM is the number one golf trade show worldwide with more than 380 buyers attending. This wide-ranging partnership will only serve to increase their profile and show experience further, with promotional activities planned before, during and also after the IGTM 2016 doors close.”

Featuring no fewer than 141 18-hole courses, Italy is the ideal place to combine a golfing break with the chance to experience many of its other historic, cultural and gastronomic delights.

Italian golf has enjoyed a remarkable year which, as well as the creation of Italy Golf & More, has seen the country selected to host the 2022 Ryder Cup and the number of overseas golfers visiting rise by record amounts – and a further period of growth is forecast in the coming years.

Italy Golf & More is a collaboration between 11 private sector partner regions, the Italian Golf Federation and the Ministry of Tourism (MIBACT), who have come together to embark on a seven-figure investment to increase awareness, and future golf tourism traffic, from key European markets to Italy.

The partner regions consist of Friuli Venezia Giulia – the leading partner region of the project – Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio, Veneto, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Puglia, Sicily, Marche and Umbria – who together boast 115 of Italy’s golf courses – with seven further regions falling under the investment of the Italian Golf Federation.

With 20 airports in the UK now operating regular flights to all over Italy, the country has never been so accessible, while its warm climate and mixture of mouth-watering cuisine, fine wines, spas, history, culture and beaches make it the perfect location for a golf break.
