A beautiful country house near Llanelli in South Wales has been given the boutique hotel treatment and has reopened with a restaurant, 11 rooms and excellent golfing available at the nearby world-class golf course at Machynys.

Llywn Country House

Llywn Country House sits in mature gardens in Llywnhendy, a peaceful rural area to the east of Llanelli. Besides being an excellent location for golfers, it sits on the edge of the breath-taking wetlands and coastal path at Penclacwydd.

“We have lots of exciting plans for our guests,” says Director Steve Poole. “High profile golf coach Simon Holmes has agreed to come and hold talks here, after which guests will go and play golf with him. We will also be offering special rugby packages including food and drink and transport to and from the nearby Scarlets rugby ground.”

The hotel has been totally restyled and upgraded, offering luxurious rooms styled around the Welsh tradition of giving a heart-felt welcome. The motif of the Welsh love spoon appears throughout; the hotel has a heart-shaped lawn which is perfect for wedding photographs, and the rooms within the main house are named Calon (Welsh for heart); Cariad (love); Cwtch (cuddle), Cwsc (sleep) and Cusan (kiss).

The hotel also has an additional six rooms in an adjoining cottage, which is perfect for family groups.

“We want to extend a warm Welsh welcome to our guests and make them feel truly at home here,” says Steve. “This is a very special house full of lovely original features, and we’ve made the most of these while also creating a clean, fresh look that makes the most of the garden views.

“When it comes to food and drink, we have an excellent chef, Sion Stephen who has worked in some of the top restaurants in the area. He has designed a stunning menu which will be available on Friday and Saturday evenings, and we will also be offering afternoon teas by prior booking, and wonderful Sunday lunches.”

The menus make the most of the excellent Welsh produce available locally, from Welsh beef and lamb through to fresh fish, local butters and vegetables.

Steve and his team are now delighted to be welcoming their first guests. “We’ve had excellent reactions from people who have visited the new-look hotel and previewed what we can offer here, and we’re hugely excited about opening,” he says.
