High Demand for Camping Village at 145th Open

3.49pm 11th July 2016 - Travel

The Open Camping Village websiteThe Open Camping Village, a free accommodation option for young people attending The 145th Open at Royal Troon, has proved extremely popular with Friday and Saturday night now fully booked.

The Camping Village, located just a short walk from the golf course at Marr Rugby club, was launched by The R&A earlier this year as a new initiative to make The Open more accessible by offering those aged 25 and under the opportunity to book their stay for free.

Places are still available on the opening day of the Championship, Thursday 14 July and on the Practice Days up to Wednesday 13 July, but fans are being encouraged to book now to avoid disappointment.

Families can also take advantage of the free accommodation at The Open Camping Village, with children under the age of 16 required to be accompanied by at least one adult of any age, to a maximum of two adults. Guests will be provided with pre-pitched tents and camping beds, and the Village is equipped with showers, food and beverage options and free parking.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director – Championships at The R&A said, “I am delighted that so many young golf fans have chosen to take advantage of the new Camping Village.

“There will be an exciting festival atmosphere at Troon throughout the week of The Open as thousands of people come together for a true celebration of golf. The new Camping Village will provide a fun and safe accommodation option for young people within easy walking distance of Royal Troon.”

To book a place in The Open Camping Village visit www.TheOpen.com/Camping or call +44 (0)161 492 1926. Spectators wishing to join a waiting list for Friday and Saturday should also get in touch using the above contact details.

The 145th Open will be played at Royal Troon from 14-17 July 2016.
