With a year to go until The Open Championship returns to the Home of Golf, visitors are being urged to act early to secure the best properties St Andrews and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Booking agent Pagan Osborne already has over 60 prime properties in St Andrews and the surrounding areas to let. A number of the most desirable residences have already been snapped up.

Linda Black, Head of Property Sales and Letting Fife at Pagan Osborne, said: “Although next July seems a long way off The Championship is one of the biggest events in the area and the accommodation demand is immense. Now the 2014 Open is over, everyone will soon be thinking of next year. The longer it is left, the more difficult it is to secure the right properties – particularly those in the town centre and for larger groups.”

Properties range in price from £2000 for five people in nearby Cupar to £17,000 for an impressive home St Andrews town centre that sleeps 11 a mere five minutes’ walk from the Old Course. The average price of a property from the current selection is around £6200 for the 11th to 20th July tournament with the average cost per person around £100 per night.

Linda added: “Compared with the price of a hotel, renting a quality house or flat can represent better value – especially for groups

“Some of our properties are a stone’s throw away from the course so people can live an authentic St Andrews experience for the week. Others are in the beautiful surrounding areas so visitors can experience more of Fife and its gorgeous scenery with a home away from home.”
