Gleneagles has retained its position at the top of Golf World/Today’s Golfer’s UK & Ireland’s Golf Resort ranking, the latest version of which has just been published by Bauer Media.
The 850-acre Perthshire estate – the only venue in Europe to have staged both the Ryder Cup (2014) and the Solheim Cup (2019) – was – for the eighth consecutive year – the clear leader in Golf World’s Top 100 rankings, which are judged by an independent panel of industry experts and golf course aficionados.
Receiving a near perfect score, Glenagles received full marks in the sub-categories of ‘courses’, ‘accommodation’ and ‘amenities’, underlining the appeal of the estate’s three championship golf courses, world-renowned luxury hotel and over 50 outdoor pursuits available for guests to experience.

All three of Gleneagles’ 18-hole golf courses – The King’s, The Queen’s and the Jack Nicklaus-designed PGA Centenary – also feature strongly in a just-released Top 100 Scottish courses ranking from the same publisher. The King’s, regarded as one of James Braid’s classics, is the highest ranked inland golf course in Scotland, at no.14.
The King’s has benefitted from significant renovation projects in recent years that have seen it restored to the original ‘inland links’ design vision of the celebrated architect. The golf course also successfully hosted last year’s Senior Open Presented by Rolex, won by Darren Clarke.
