Empordà Golf unveils rebranded hotel following €21m renovation

Empordà Golf is ready to hit the ground running in 2022 after changing the name of its hotel to ‘Hotel Terraverda’ following a major upgrade to facilities at the popular Spanish resort.

After receiving an investment of more than €21m and undergoing an extensive renovation program in the last two years, the hotel has been rebranded to represent the significant modernisation that has taken place.

Hotel Terraverda has been transformed with a contemporary new look in the bedrooms, communal areas and restaurant after all being redesigned and renovated. Guests of the hotel can also now enjoy the new outdoor swimming pool that has been installed.

The word ‘terraverda’ translates to ‘green earth’ in English and was chosen to reflect the two spectacular golf courses that the hotel is surrounded by. The new name was also chosen to reflect the green environmental path the company is determined to follow by reducing its carbon footprint. They are determined to show that traveling is possible with more responsible options in terms of hospitality and gastronomy.

After the golf club opened in 1988, the five original owners commissioned the renowned American architect Robert von Hagge to design the two Empordà courses – the Links and the Forest – and the venue has had the privilege of hosting numerous high-profile tournaments including, most recently, the Challenge Tour Empordà and Challenge Tour Costa Brava in October. Hotel Empordà was then opened in 2006.

While Hotel Terraverda will be the new name of the hotel, the wider property retains its name as Empordà Golf. Both golf courses have undergone significant investment to elevate the golf experience on offer to members and guests.

The work undertaken here includes the reconstruction of all bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker method, a comprehensive tree clearance programme and purchase of new greenkeeping equipment to improve the all-round condition of tees, fairways, and greens.

Located in the heart of Costa Brava, Hotel Terraverda is situated just five minutes away from the beach and mountains and a short drive away from both Girona and Barcelona airports. As well as the exceptional golf courses, guests of the hotel can experience the wide range of activities that the Costa Brava has to offer nearby including local vineyard Mas Geli, olive oil tasting and medieval villages including Pals and Palau-sator.
