The Spanish region of Costa Brava is ready to show golfers just why it has featured so highly in the latest rankings for elite European golf resorts.
The updated version of Golf World’s rankings of the ‘Top 100 Resorts in Continental Europe’, remains an influential guide within the industry and the region’s resorts have been well-represented, which is sure to entice guests when travel restrictions are lifted.
Of the region’s seven resorts, three made it into the listing with the outstanding PGA Catalunya ranked at no.3 and was also rated in the top ten for families.
Peralada – in the north of the region – also fared well in the Top 100, coming in at number 80 and it was also named in the top-10 for female groups with special mention reserved for its famous Wine Spa.
Announcing its verdict, the Top 100 panel said: “There is a Wine Spa here, so that will immediately appeal to some of you. It’s more than a chance to indulge yourself though, with a 6,600-yard parkland course that travels over undulating ground and winds between lakes and mature trees. The small hotel is high-end but relaxing.”
Empordà Golf has moved up 23 places to 35th in the rankings after its major investment in golf and the renovation of the on-site hotel in recent times.
A spokesperson for Golf Costa Brava said: “It’s a fantastic honour for our resorts to be named in the Golf World Top 100. It’s a respected publication and we know golfers trust these judgements. Although we all know travel is difficult for some people at the moment, we look forward to welcoming back our returning guests and perhaps some new friends keen to experience golf in Costa Brava as soon as possible.”
