Assoufid Golf Club, the unique desert-style 18-hole golf course in the vibrant city of Marrakech, has signed a reciprocal agreement with the world’s largest golf facility, Mission Hills China.

The partnership will see resident members of the award-winning Assoufid Golf Club offered complimentary playing privileges at Mission Hills – a development that boasts golf courses designed by some of the game’s modern-day greats including Sir Nick Faldo, Annika Sorenstam and Ernie Els. Mission Hills’ members will also be offered the same courtesy when visiting Assoufid.

Assoufid Golf Club officially opened in October 2014 and has rapidly built a reputation as one of North Africa’s most exciting new golf destinations, underlined by its recent ‘Best Golf Course in Morocco’ accolade at the 2015 World Golf Awards.

The par-72 desert-style golf course is situated just 20 minutes from the old town (medina) of Marrakech – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and a 10-minute drive from the international airport. Assoufid Golf Club was designed by Scottish PGA professional and former European Tour player, Niall Cameron, and is part of a 222-hectare development that will include a hospitality and residential component.

Guy Maxwell, Golf Director at Assoufid Golf Club, commented: “Mission Hills is one of the world’s great golf destinations and a development we are very proud to have a relationship with.

“Our wish is to create further partnerships with globally recognised clubs and resorts in other key European golf markets, giving our growing membership the opportunity to experience complimentary golf in different parts of the world, whilst building awareness of Morocco as an exciting and emerging golf destination.”

Morocco is among the fastest growing golf destinations in the EMEA region and Marrakech, within a three-hour flight time of most European capital cities and famed for its souks, world-class cuisine and clubs, is a legendary haven for artists, fashionistas, movie stars, business people and statesmen.

Commenting on the new agreement, Iain Roberts, Group Executive Director at Mission Hills China, said: “We welcome the new agreement with Assoufid Golf Club. It is our second reciprocal arrangement in Morocco and one that will offer our members a gateway to first-class golf in Marrakech.”
