Algarve On Cloud Nine At Today’s Golfer Awards

12.00pm 16th January 2020 - Travel

The Algarve has kicked off 2020 in style with yet more success at the Today’s Golfer Travel Awards.

It’s a ninth title for the Portuguese golfing hotspot since the launch of the awards in 2011, as it secured the crown of Best Golf Destination in Continental Europe for the fourth year running.

Readers of the popular publication cast their votes in their thousands in this year’s awards, and the sun-drenched region, which boasts 43 courses, claimed the top prize as Europe’s leading golf destination once again.

Kevin Brown, Today’s Golfer Courses and Travel Editor, said: “Congratulations to the Algarve again on another richly-deserved victory in our Travel Awards. The Algarve has so much to offer both on and off the course. It’s such a magical all-round package and no wonder golfers revisit time and time again. It is the fourth year in a row it has been voted as the number one destination and is clearly as popular as ever with our readers.”

Maria Manuel Delgado e Silva, Algarve tourism golf product manager, said: “It’s a wonderful start to 2020 to have been voted as Best Golf Destination in Continental Europe by the readers of Today’s Golfer. It is a source of huge pride to everyone in the industry to receive this recognition once again from our UK guests and our thanks go to those who took the time to vote for us.

“It is always an enormous team effort and we would like to show our gratitude to everyone who played their part in achieving this award. There are so many unsung heroes working in our industry in the Algarve and everyone plays their part in delivering the highest standards possible.”

The Algarve has become a serial winner within the golf industry in recent times, and has continued that tradition after also adding the IAGTO Worldwide Golf Destination of the Year for 2020 to the trophy cabinet at the IGTM in October.
