Ulster University is driving its education offering forward with the launch of its new Masters degree in Golf Management at its Coleraine campus.
This new programme, which is offered by the university’s Department of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, promises to deliver a unique blend of academic excellence and practical experience in one of the world’s most prestigious golfing regions.
The Masters in Golf Management is designed to cater to the growing global demand for qualified professionals in the golf industry, which is increasingly being recognised as a major economic driver and career opportunity. The programme is meticulously crafted to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to manage golf facilities, events, and organisations at the highest levels.
What sets this programme apart is its strategic location at Ulster University’s Coleraine campus. The north coast of Northern Ireland is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich golfing heritage. Just a stone’s throw away from the campus lies Royal Portrush Golf Club, one of the world’s most celebrated courses and now a regular host of The Open Championship. This proximity provides students with unparalleled access to a world-class golfing environment, offering them the chance to engage directly with the industry and gain practical insights that are second to none.

“The launch of the Masters in Golf Management is a significant milestone for Ulster University and the Coleraine campus, especially so in this year of The Open Championship once again at Royal Portrush,” said Dr Peter Bolan, Course Director. “We are committed to delivering an educational experience that is both academically rigorous and industry-relevant.
“Our collaboration with Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Galgorm Castle and other local golf clubs will provide students with unique opportunities to develop their skills in practical industry settings that are internationally recognised.”
The programme is also aligned with Ulster University’s broader commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Students will have the opportunity to participate in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship in golf course management and explore ways to make the sport more inclusive and accessible to diverse populations.
Applications for the Masters in Golf Management are now open, and the first cohort will begin their studies in September.
