Foremost Golf has become the Official Partner for golf of the Melanoma Fund, launching a long-term partnership designed to help make sun safety a normal part of golf through education, behaviour change and early detection.
The partnership will equip Foremost members with the knowledge, confidence and practical resources to encourage healthier habits both on and off the course. Through the Melanoma Fund’s CPD-accredited Sunguarding course, educational content and the opportunity to become Sunguard Ambassadors, members will be able to inspire golfers to adopt simple sun-safe behaviours through trusted conversations at their clubs and within their local communities, helping make sun safety a normal part of the golfing experience.
Andy Martin, Managing Director of Foremost Golf, said: “Golf is one of the world’s great outdoor sports, and we encourage everyone to get out there and enjoy it. But with golfers and PGA Professionals spending so much time outdoors, it’s important that sun safety becomes part of the game too. We look forward to working with Michelle and her team at the Melanoma Fund to give our members the knowledge and resources to encourage simple sun-safe habits, helping more golfers enjoy the game safely across the UK and Ireland.”
The partnership will also support the expansion of the Melanoma Fund’s Slip! Slap! Swing! campaign. Built around simple, practical advice designed for golf clubs, it encourages golfers to wear sun-protective clothing, apply SPF30+ sunscreen, seek shade where possible, wear a hat and regularly check their skin, reinforcing those small changes, repeated consistently, can make a significant difference.
Michelle Baker, CEO of the Melanoma Fund, said: “Awareness isn’t the challenge. Behaviour is. Most golfers know they should protect themselves from the sun, yet many still don’t do it consistently. PGA Professionals can influence that by leading by example. We’re delighted with the support that Foremost Golf is providing and looking forward to working with Andy and the team at Foremost Golf to help make sun safety a normal part of the game and encourage more golfers to adopt simple sun-safe habits.”
