Evian Championship announces boosted prize fund for 2022 renewal

2.29pm 17th May 2022 - Sponsorship & Events

The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major tournaments in professional women’s golf, has announced an increased prize fund for this year’s tournament, which takes place at the Evian Resort in France from July 21-24.

The total prize fund has been raised from $4.5m to $6.5m, with a guaranteed $1 million being awarded to the winner. Last year’s champion, Minjee Lee, won almost $600,000.

In a change to previous seasons, all 132 players in the field will be guaranteed a share of the prize fund rather than just those who make the 36-hole cut.

Since its creation in 1994, The Evian Championship has continually asserted its ambition to promote women’s performance in sport and take part in growing women’s golf. This is behind the momentum to increase the prize money, to which the tournament has been committed for many years, thanks to the support of its main sponsors, led by Amundi, Rolex, Danone and Evian.

The tournament is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour.
