Golf Show 2012 organisers donated a cheque for £5,000 to the PGA Benevolent Fund which was its chosen charity for the year.
The money raised from the Harrogate event will go towards helping members who have fallen on difficult times.
The PGA was formed in 1901 and is the world’s oldest professional golfers’ association. Based at Centenary House at the famous Belfry, the PGA now has more than 7,500 members including more than 1,600 working overseas in more than 70 different countries.
PGA chief executive Sandy Jones said: “The idea of a Benevolent Fund and helping PGA members in times of hardship was one of the founding principles of the Association back in 1901 and to this day we still support PGA members who have for one reason or another fallen on difficult times. And it is not just older members either, often younger members have been the recipients of help from the Fund.
“It may be via a grant to assist them or to those who sometimes have sudden health issues or challenges and need quick medical attention but we always need to keep the funds coming because we are certainly spending more year on year so this gesture by Golf Show organizers is greatly appreciated.”
