Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open To Return To Dundonald Links In 2023

12.01pm 1st August 2022 - Sponsorship & Events

Dundonald Links will host the 2023 Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, after hosting a triumphant return of the co-sanctioned LPGA and LET event to Ayrshire with a packed leaderboard of the world’s best players, headed by 17-time LPGA winner Lydia Ko, heading out for the final round of the 2022 edition.

The tournament partners and players, including seven of the world’s top ten competing this week, have enjoyed all of the enhancements that have been made since the tournament was last held at Dundonald in 2017.

The course has been much acclaimed by the players and the new clubhouse, built from sustainable and locally sourced natural materials, is undoubtably the centerpiece, drawing much admiration from the players seeing and experiencing it for the first time.

The 2018 AIG Women’s Open Champion, Georgia Hall said “It’s proper links. It has some really tough holes, especially when you get near the sea. It’s in fantastic condition too and I really enjoy playing this course. I’ve stayed on site this week and have really enjoyed staying in the lodges and all the new facilities in the clubhouse.

Ko, who is staying in one of the new lodges close to the 10th said, “It’s super convenient. This wasn’t part of the facilities we had last time we were here. So I was surprised when they said there was this option. It’s nice to be able to roll out of bed and you don’t have to think about is there going to be traffic, and especially driving on the other side of the road to normal in the U.S. It’s a very convenient week and really nice, especially when you get done kind of late to be able to go to your room. So I feel like it’s very efficient use of time and a great addition.”

Thai-based technology company, Trust Golf, took over as title sponsor of the Women’s Scottish Open in 2021. Their founder Dr. Prin Singhanart commented, “As we continue our partnership with the LPGA, Ladies European Tour, VisitScotland and IMG, I am delighted that the Tournament will be played at Dundonald Links again next year – it’s proved itself as a world class venue this week and the feedback from the players has been overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to another amazing event at Dundonald Links next year.”

The Scottish Government and VisitScotland have long supported women’s golf, and recently announced a further five-year commitment to the Women’s Scottish Open with investment of up to £6m through to 2025.

Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events with VisitScotland, said: “The success of the Women’s Scottish Open has been built through strong relationships and partnerships, and we’re delighted that Dundonald Links has received much acclaim this week from the players, spectators and media. By announcing the return of the event to North Ayrshire in 12 months’ time, it provides all the stakeholders and partners an opportunity to build on this year’s success, ensuring the 2023 staging of the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open continues the growth of this important event in Scotland’s events portfolio. ”

Ian Ferguson, General Manager at Dundonald links commented: “We have had the most fantastic week hosting the world’s best golfers here on site and to hear such overwhelmingly positive feedback from the players on both the course and our facilities has been so gratifying for our whole team here at Dundonald Links. It has been a real pleasure to partner with Trust Golf, VisitScotland, the LPGA, LET and IMG to deliver this prestigious event and to be able to showcase all the investment and work we have done here to golf fans around the world. The response has already been amazing in terms of inquiries and bookings so we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome everyone back here next year.”

Ross Hallett, SVP, Golf Events at IMG added: “We are delighted to be able to return to Dundonald Links in 2023. It has proven itself as a fantastic tournament venue for the world’s best golfers this week and the investment in the golf course, clubhouse and accommodation has absolutely elevated the entire experience for everyone involved in the event.”
