Team names, captains and squad members announced for LIV Golf Invitational

2.07pm 8th June 2022 - Sponsorship & Events

Following a draft event held on Tuesday evening, the team names, captains and the players have now been finalised for the LIV Golf Invitational Series London, which tees off at Centurion Club on Thursday.

Although the tournament has a $20m fund for a 54-hole individual strokeplay format, there is also a team element, with 12 pre-appointed captains able to choose three players to join them to compete for a $5m team prize. The best two scores from each four-man team over the first two rounds, and the best three scores from the final round, will be combined to generate a team total.

Dustin Johnson’s team, 4 Aces, features Shaun Norris, Oliver Bekker and Kevin Yuan, while Phil Mickelson will lead the Hy Flyers team comprising Justin Harding, Ratchanon Chantananuwat and Chase Koepka. Chantananuwat is the youngest competitor in the field, aged just 15.

Ian Poulter’s Majesticks is an all-England affair, with Lee Westwood, Sam Horsfield and Laurie Canter making up the team, while South African Louis Oosthuizen’s Stingers is also a one-nation squad with Hennie Du Plessis, Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace completing the line-up.

Sergio Garcia’s young Fire Balls team features two amateurs, David Puig and James Piot, who will be playing alongside 22-year-old Australian Jediah Morgan.

Other teams include Niblicks captained by Graeme McDowell; Iron Heads led by Kevin Na and Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks. American Peter Uihlein captains Crushers, Sihwan Kim leads Smash, Talor Gooch heads Torque and Wade Ormsby captains Punch. The full squads are listed below.

The 3-day tournament gets under way at 2.15pm on Thursday, with a shotgun start at Centurion Club. All three rounds are being live streamed on Livgolf.com, YouTube and Facebook.
