TaylorMade signs Rickie Fowler to ball and glove deal

PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler has switched golf ball brands, moving from Titleist to TaylorMade, and will be teeing up with a TP5x when he makes his first appearance of the year at this week’s Farmers Insurance Open.

It’s the first time Fowler has ever switched golf balls, having played with a Titleist Pro V1 through his entire amateur and professional career, but has now signed a multi-year golf ball deal with TaylorMade.

With Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy also playing TaylorMade balls, it means that six of the top 12 players in the world rankings have now put either the latest version of brand’s TP5 or TP5x in play.

Fowler, currently ranked 11th in the world, came to the decision to make the switch to the TP5x after extensive testing in the off-season.

“It’s been fun to see what the ball can do,” Fowler said. “Extra yardage on irons, more spin around the green. One less club for me into many holes is a pretty big advantage, too. What more do you want?”

“We knew the performance of our golf balls would motivate Rickie and ease the transition away from the ball he’s played his entire career,” said Eric Loper, TaylorMade’s Director of R&D, Golf Balls. “With his decision to choose TaylorMade, Fowler becomes yet another top player in the world to make the switch from the perceived #1 ball into TaylorMade and that only further validates our product as the best in the world.”

In addition to the new ball, Fowler will also wear TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred glove.
