Justin Rose reinforced his status as the world’s leading golfer and saw his own Tour statistics rise in winning the Farmers Insurance Open yesterday with a majestic performance using HONMA TWorld 747 driver, irons and wedges for only the second time in competition.
Thanks to the REAL DISTANCE spine alignment technology offered by the premium Japanese brand, the Englishman was able to lift his Tour average driving distance to 308.4 yards (303.5 in 2018) and his ball speed with the TWorld 747 460 driver to 186 mph (179 last year). “I can’t believe how good the driver is and how well I’ve driven the ball this week on a tough test,” said Rose after securing his first win on the PGA Tour in January with a two-shot, -21 victory.
During four sub-70 rounds, Rose hit almost two-thirds of the tight fairways at Torrey Pines with his 9.5° HONMA TWorld 747 driver fitted with a HONMA Vizard FD-7X shaft, both hand-crafted together at Honma’s factory in Sakata, Japan, to deliver optimum feel and consistent performance. He was also T-2 in greens in regulation (almost 78%) with his TWorld Rose Proto irons (4-9), plus a TWorld TX-X Proto 2 iron. His selection of 11 HONMA clubs in a stylish Tour bag also included the TWorld Rose Proto 48°, 52° and 56° wedges.
“I really felt comfortable with the clubs immediately,” added Rose as he celebrated his 10th PGA Tour victory and became the most successful English player in America for more than half a century. “It’s a whole new look for me, but I don’t mind if it’s going to produce this golf.”
Alejandro Sanchez, General Manager of HONMA Golf in Europe, commented: “We could not have wished for a better start to our relationship with Justin Rose on Tour or his performance with the TWorld 747 driver and Vizard shaft combination that’s unique to HONMA. This early victory is sure to boost interest across Europe in the latest HONMA range of clubs that caters for golfers of all abilities.”
Advanced REAL DISTANCE technology allows the face and lie angle of the TWorld 747 driver to be adjusted without rotating the spine of the high-quality Vizard FD-7X shaft. The technology is incorporated in two drivers, fairway woods, a hybrid and two iron models that cater for better players and game improvers.
