Ryder Cup Europe has announced the introduction of a new local Impact & Legacy Fund for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Limerick, Ireland.
This will provide funding to support projects that will leave a positive impact on the local community around host venue Adare Manor and across Limerick.
Local organisations and projects can apply for grants of up to €20,000. To be eligible, applicants must be working to deliver positive impact in Limerick City and County across one or more of the following five areas: Community; Skills & Education; Environment; Disability; Regeneration.
These have been chosen because they align with the 2023-2028 Local Economic and Community Plan for Limerick City and County, and the Ryder Cup’s Beyond the Fairway programme which works to leave a positive legacy in the communities that host the biennial team matchplay event.
A steering committee has been created to review the applications, comprising representatives from Ryder Cup Europe, Limerick City and County Council, and the Manager of the Limerick Senior Hurling Team, John Kiely.
Speaking about the new Fund Richard Atkinson, Chief Ryder Cup Officer at the European Tour Group, said: “The Ryder Cup will be the biggest sporting event to be staged on the island of Ireland and we want to make sure that the event transcends golf and delivers long-term benefits for the local community.
“This new Impact & Legacy Fund will allow locally rooted organisations and individuals to use the Ryder Cup to further the excellent work they are already doing to make the region an even better place to live and work. We’re excited to see this launch, and to engage with local stakeholders to encourage a wide pool of applications.”
Applications are now open and can be made by completing the application form on the Ryder Cup website at www.rydercup.com/content/2027-legacy-fund. Applications will close on 29th January, with successful applicants informed by 30th April.
