PowerPlay Golf gives green light to Nikon Golf

8.48am 30th May 2011 - Sponsorship & Events

PowerPlay Golf has appointed Nikon and its Laser 350G as its Official Laser Rangefinder for its first televised event, PowerPlay Golf driven by Saab: IGNITION. Commentators and caddies will today, together with the players, be permitted to use Nikon’s 350G device during the event under a local rule within the Rules of Golf.

IGNITION, which features PowerPlay Golf’s shorter format played over nine holes to two flags, is being televised live around the world later today in a single three-hour broadcast.

“The need for accuracy and speed makes the use of the Nikon 350G perfect for this PowerPlay Golf event,” said Roger Wolfe, Managing Director of Nikon Golf distributors Yumax Ltd. “As the whole event, which involves twelve Tour golfers, must be completed in under three hours, pace of play is a vital factor. The ease and speed with which golfers can use a Nikon laser rangefinder is a valuable addition to the tournament,” he said.

David Piggins, Chief Executive Officer of PowerPlay Golf, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Nikon Golf into our family of sponsors, and believe that the use of Nikon laser rangefinders during Ignition will help us keep the tournament within its time-slot.”
